Apache Bunching Red Onion

Commonly known as scallions this variety produces long edible stalks instead of bulbs. They grow long and tubular with vibrant purple base that continues to a green top with a small strip of white in between. The mild flavor and crisp texture make it versatile fresh or cooked.

Use fresh to add color to salads or a vegetable platter or simply on the side with a sandwich. Add to stir fries, soups or add a subtle hint of onion to any dish. Tops can be used as a cut and come again vegetable snip off what you need and let the base bulb keep growing to harvest later. The dark green leaves are a delicious garnish in soups or cooked dishes or can be used in place of fresh chives.
